Local jobs and economic investment set to soar as TV WEEK Logie award winning Seven Network series RFDS takes off in SA

South Australia’s screen industry is flying high as the cameras start rolling on season three of TV WEEK Logie Award-winning Seven Network drama RFDS, bringing an employment and economic boost to the state and putting a national spotlight on the beautiful Flinders Ranges.

Supported by the State Government through the South Australian Film Corporation (SAFC), the series is expected to inject more than $10 million into the state’s economy and create more than 450 jobs for South Australians across crew, cast and extras talent.

With a majority South Australian crew, RFDS is the first production to come to the state from Endemol Shine Australia, the company behind acclaimed dramas such as NCIS: Sydney and The Claremont Murders as well as award winning shows Masterchef Australia, LEGO Masters, Australian Survivor and Gogglebox.

Co-created by Ian Meadows, Executive Produced by Sara Richardson and Julie McGauran and produced by South Australia’s Lisa Scott of Highview Productions (The Tourist), the highly anticipated third season is now underway in the state. Filming is taking place across Adelaide, including at the SAFC’s Adelaide Studios, as well as at the Port Augusta RFDS Base and regional surrounds including Quorn. With much of the action unfolding in the stunning Flinders Ranges, the production is also anticipated to generate economic development and tourism for the region.

Inspired by the heroic real-life stories of doctors, nurses, pilots and support staff of the Royal Flying Doctor Service, the new season picks up one year later as the RFDS family is forced to grapple with the fallout of choices and deal with the domino effects of a tragedy. The lead cast are all set to return including Emma Hamilton, Stephen Peacocke, Rob Collins, Justine Clarke, Ash Ricardo, Emma Harvie, Rodney Afif, Jack Scott, Sofia Nolan and Thomas Weatherall.

RFDS won the 2024 TV WEEK Logie Award for Best Drama Program, and earned a nomination for Best Lead Actor in a Drama for Rob Collins. Season 3 will air on Channel 7 and 7plus in 2025.

Arts Minister Andrea Michaels MP said: “It is very exciting to welcome RFDS to South Australia. It is the latest in a continued pipeline of major productions taking place in our state with the support of the Malinauskas Government.

“Securing this amazing series is a huge win for the state, injecting $10 million into South Australia’s economy and creating hundreds of jobs for our local screen sector while showcasing Adelaide and our incredible Flinders Ranges to a national audience.“It demonstrates that South Australia is the perfect home for Australian television production.”

SAFC CEO Kate Croser said: “We are thrilled to welcome Endemol Shine to South Australia for the first time with this beloved Australian drama series, strengthening our state’s international reputation as the premier location for Australian stories on screen.

“Led by South Australian producer Lisa Scott with a predominantly South Australian crew, RFDS will create significant employment and career advancement opportunities for local screen sector talent including 10 South Australian Heads of Department. It will also deliver economic and employment benefits for South Australians outside the screen industry, with more than two thirds of expenditure on a typical screen production going to suppliers and service providers in other sectors such as construction, transport, hospitality, retail and more.”

Executive Producer and Endemol Shine Australia’s Head of Scripted Sara Richardson said: “Endemol Shine Australia is delighted to be filming in South Australia - showcasing the beauty of the state and the Flinders Ranges to not only the rest of the country, but around the world. It is a pleasure to be working closely with the SAFC, and the production is so appreciative of their support, facilities and commitment. We are extremely grateful to the communities of Quorn and the Port Augusta RFDS base for being so welcoming and giving this show a home away from home.”

Producer Lisa Scott of Highview Productions said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have such a celebrated and revered production here in South Australia. With the support of the SAFC not only are we able to provide hundreds of jobs to local Adelaide cast and crew, we will also be showcasing the Flinders Ranges and our state’s regional surrounds, both of which we are supremely proud of.”

Seven’s Head of Drama Julie McGauran said: “We are grateful to the SAFC and South Australian Government for their extraordinary support of this TV Week Logie award winning drama - one of which we are most proud. We are really excited for viewers to see what is in store for season three when it airs on Seven next year, let the cameras roll!”

RFDS is produced by Endemol Shine Australia (a Banijay Entertainment Company) in association with the Seven Network. Major production investment from Screen Australia, Seven Network and the South Australian Film Corporation. Post, digital and visual effects supported by Screen NSW. Production starts on RFDS season three

Filming of acclaimed Aussie drama moves to South Australia for new season

Pre-production on the third season of the Seven Network’s TV WEEK Logie Award- nominated drama RFDS has commenced.

Produced by Endemol Shine Australia (a Banijay Entertainment Company) for Seven – with major production investment from Screen Australia, Seven and the South Australian Film Corporation – the lead cast are all set to return including Emma Hamilton, Stephen Peacocke, Justine Clarke, Ash Ricardo, Emma Harvie, Rodney Afif, Jack Scott, Sofia Nolan, Thomas Weatherall and Rob Collins (who is nominated in this year’s TV WEEK Logie Awards as Best Lead Actor in a Drama for his role as Dr Wayne Yates).

With the planned upgrade of the Broken Hill airport, runway and RFDS facilities taking place during scheduled production, the highly anticipated third season will film in South Australia, with action unfolding across locations in Adelaide and the stunning Flinders Ranges, with the Port Augusta RFDS Base and regional surrounds doubling for Broken Hill.

Co-Creator, Writer and Executive Producer Ian Meadows said: “This series strives to showcase the beauty of regional Australia and the incredible work that the RFDS does to reach and support our most remote communities. We are pleased to have found a new home in South Australia for season three, utilising the Port Augusta RFDS Base and beautiful regional surrounds including Quorn, as well as locations across Adelaide.”

Based on the heroic real-life stories of doctors, nurses, pilots and support staff of the Royal Flying Doctor Service, the new season picks up one year later, as the RFDS family is forced to grapple with the fallout of choices and deal with the domino effects of a tragedy. With the show now in production, I can confidently say Ian and the team have once again crafted wonderful stories that showcase the importance of the RFDS and all they do for the Australian community. This beautiful series is only possible because of their incredible support.”

South Australian Film Corporation CEO, Kate Croser, said: “We are delighted to welcome this beloved drama series to South Australia, marking Endemol Shine’s first production in the state. Securing RFDS is a real coup for South Australia.

Produced by SA’s Lisa Scott with a majority SA crew, not only will it create hundreds of local jobs and significant opportunities for crew upskilling and career advancement, but it will also be the latest major screen production to showcase our state’s remarkable regional landscapes to a huge national audience.”

Screen Australia COO, Grainne Brunsdon, said: “RFDS has captivated audiences and touched hearts across the country. Not only is it a gripping drama, it also showcases parts of regional Australia not often seen on screen. Most importantly it celebrates the critical work that the Royal Flying Doctor Service does every day, helping our remote communities.”

Executive produced by Sara Richardson, Julie McGauran and Ian Meadows, the third season of RFDS is produced by Lisa Scott (Highview Productions). RFDS is produced by Endemol Shine Australia in association with the Seven Network. Major production investment from Screen Australia, Seven Network and the South Australian Film Corporation. Join Andy Lee And Top International Comedians In A Battle Of The Nations

NEW SPECIAL EPISODE TUESDAY, JULY 23, AT 8.00PM ON CHANNEL 9 AND 9NOW

The Hundred with Andy Lee returns to Channel 9 and 9Now on Tuesday, July 23, at 8.00pm with a special episode featuring top comedians and 100 everyday Australians Zooming in from all over the country to tell us what really makes Australia tick.

This time Andy and the comedians are putting their pride on the line in the show’s first-ever battle of the nations.

The panellists competing for the gold include Kate Langbroek representing Australia, Guy Williams representing New Zealand, and Mike Goldstein representing the USA. Who will triumph and claim top spot on the podium in the competition of knowing just what makes Aussies tick?

In this episode we find out what percentage of The Hundred have invaded a sporting pitch, and what The Hundred really think of Nick Kyrgios. In Match Em, we reveal four up-and-coming athletic stars, and in This or That, it’s time to find out if walking should be considered a sport. Also, is it crazy to get married on Grand Final Day?

A special guest, “Lethal Leisel” Jones, who won three gold medals in the pool at four Olympic Games, also joins the show this week. Will she get the recognition she deserves when she Faces The Hundred?

“My hair colour has changed that many times I’m not certain The Hundred will even know who I am. Any blonde swimmer is interchangeable, so I can be Susie O’Neill or Libby Trickett. Hopefully Kate, Guy and Mike can tell the difference between us all,” Leisel says.

The Hundred with Andy Lee is an original concept by Screentime Australia and Andy Lee, produced by Endemol Shine Australia (a Banijay Company) in association with Channel 9.

Meet The Fugitives. Hunted: The Million Dollar Heist. Starts Monday, 12 August At 7.30pm On 10 And 10 Play.

Hunted: The Million Dollar Heist. Starts Monday, 12 August At 7.30pm On 10 And 10 Play.

Australia’s real-life game of cat and mouse, Hunted: The Million Dollar Heist, returns on Monday, 12 August at 7.30pm on 10 and 10 Play for a third season with a new look, a new Chief and a mind-blowing twist.

This season we meet nine pairs of ordinary Australians who, right before your eyes, transform into real life fugitives and undertake the unthinkable – a bank robbery.

It’s a modern-day bank heist as the Fugitives break into a bank and steal the money, before making their getaway to disappear without a trace. Their goal is to make it to the extraction point in 20 days and if they evade capture, the money is theirs to keep.

Hunted HQ has a new Chief at the helm. With over 20 years of experience in the Australian Defence Force and having been awarded the Order of Australia for services to the special operations community, Reece Dewar, OAM, steps up to lead the charge.

Reece’s dedicated, experienced, sharply trained team of Hunters must use their arsenal of tools to capture the Fugitives at large.

Australia’s most wanted Fugitives include Gen Z friends from Queensland coined the Dangerous Duo, Jayde and Tayla; recently engaged Queensland couple, Joanna and Lee; NSW father and daughter duo, Tanisha and Bobby and down to earth country girls, Romanee and Chelsea, who will all be going in with a solid plan to elude the Hunters.

Joining them on the run will be Andy and Deb from South Australia. Deb's father was a criminal safe cracker spending 20 years on the run – will she inherently know some tactics that she can use? Andy and Deb will need to keep up with thrill seekers Ondeane and Shelli from Western Australia; while Victorian married couple, Ben and Luke are poised to make their mark on this ultimate adventure.

Friends from NSW, Kaylie and Tony, have speed, street smarts and are constantly thinking ahead while Victorian friends, Akec and Joe will do whatever it takes to make it to the final extraction point.

Hunted is produced by Endemol Shine (a Banijay Company).

Hunted: The Million Dollar Heist.

Starts Monday, 12 August At 7.30pm On 10 And 10 Play.
